Malakai Black signed a deal with AEW in July 2021 and he initially had a subpar run, as his only major singles feud was with Cody Rhodes. He is now a member of The House of Black alongside Buddy Matthews and Brody King. That said, a startling statistic about Black’s AEW solo career in 2023 has painted a very unfortunate picture.

Malakai Black previously revealed that he had been dealing with a slight calf tear and knee hyperextension, which put him on the shelf for while. He returned back in October and has been competing as a team since then with his House of Black members.

According to Cagematch, with just a month left in 2023, Malakai Black hasn’t competed in a singles match the entire year. In fact, his last singles match was against Penta Oscuro in June 2022.

There were signs that he was going to feud with Bryan Danielson, but none of that materialized into anything after Danielson’s injury. Regardless, only time will tell when he will have a singles match again.
