AEW has a lot of things going on, and last week’s episode of Collision included quite an interesting segment between Adam Copeland and Ricky Starks. It turns out that this was all a part of the show.

Last week’s AEW Collision promo turned some heads, but, contrary to speculation, it didn’t cause any heat. Adam Copeland and Ricky Starks’ promo on Collision last week took some shots at each other as Copeland referred Starks as a Rock ripoff, and then Starks said that put him “over the edge.”

Fans reacted to that October 14th AEW Collision, where Adam Copeland and Ricky Starks criticized each other. This prompted speculation that they had strong feelings toward each other due to the promo.

Sean Sapp noted behind Fightful’s paywall that there didn’t appear to be any backstage heat after that promo between Adam Copeland and Ricky Starks. In the moment, things seemed very real, but there are no concerns of things escalating.

“Those that we’ve spoken to said there didn’t appear to be any heat backstage, and that generally speaking Adam Copeland does not get rattled by promos like that, but writes his own material and has since the WWE days. In the moment, it was said he was just trying to give back what was given to him. Ricky Starks also wasn’t upset backstage about the promo, and we’re told that the content in which Copeland said wasn’t anything he hasn’t heard before.”

“Sources familiar with the situation that if they end up having another in-ring promo, it’ll be a similar back-and-forth and there aren’t any concerns of things escalating to an unprofessional level or anything with them. Thus far, Adam Copeland has received great reviews from talent and staff at AEW, one said that they probably wouldn’t have used the ‘vanilla midget’ line, but outside from that, it was two guys trying to be off the cuff.”

AEW has seen a couple of promos get taken too far, and they have snowballed into a lot more. In fact, the promo that CM Punk cut on The Elite caused Brawl Out, which eventually led to the chain of events we find ourselves in today. Only time will tell what’s next for AEW, but there seems to a professional atmosphere right now where Adam Copeland is concerned.
