Fuego del Sol wasn’t seen as one of the most successful AEW wrestlers when it came to win-loss record. The undersized underdog often showed heart, but since finally earning his AEW contract, he always seemed to lose no matter what. He was fired by AEW earlier this year and now he has finally disclosed the day he got released.

Fuego Del Sol made his way to AEW a couple of years ago and was largely seen as enhancement talent. However, his feud with Miro ultimately helped him secure a contract and become an official member of the AEW roster.

Fuego Del Sol was also out of action due to foot injury and underwent surgery for the same back in March. It was then revealed that he had parted ways with AEW after his contract expired on July 1st.

While speaking on his YouTube channel, Fuego Del Sol talked about his AEW release and what eventually led to it. Del Sol revealed that he signed a 4-year deal, with one year being a guarantee and the other three being optional years. He then detailed the day he got fired from AEW via a phone call.

Fast forward a few months to May and I’d been working like hell to rehab my foot, I was sitting at a physical therapy’s office with one session left, until I was cleared to return to the ring. I was even texting Sammy Guevara. Then out of nowhere, I get a text message from a couple of people in AEW management, asking me when would be a good time for them to call me later today.

I immediately screenshotted that messag and sent it to Sammy and said, ‘Uh oh.’ Cause I knew it was either one of two things – they were either going to renew me or future endeavor me.

I walked out of the doctor’s office, I sat down in my car and I picked up the phone. I realized it was a group call with a member of AEW’s legal team and as well as someone high up in management in Tony Schiavone. Tony then gave me the very unfortunate news that I would no longer be in AEW as they were not renewing my contract for another year. He thanked me for my time in AEW and for my professionalism on the call.

I told him, ‘Thank you or all the time in AEW and I appreciate the years I got to spend there.’ I also asked if there was anything legally stopping me from announcing this myself. They gave me their blessing and then I proceeded to tell Tony Schiovane that ‘Please tell Tony Khan know that I plan on being a star in professional wrestling, whether it’s in AEW or otherwise.’ He told me he wished me the best of luck and hopes that I prove them wrong. And I said, ‘No Schiavone, I promise I’m going to prove you wrong.’

The Young Bucks also didn’t know about Fuego Del Sel getting fired.

Fuego Del Sol had some memorable moments during his AEW career, but his time has now come to an end. We will have to wait and see what the future holds for Fuego Del Sol.
