WWE has seen a lot of success in the business world, and there have also been a ton of controversies as well. Vince McMahon’s exit from the company, and his eventual return, is still the focus for some people.

For over a year, Vince McMahon has been involved in a scandal concerning payments related to alleged sexual misconduct. There was also lawsuit over this situation, on behalf of WWE, from a disgruntled investor.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted a recent SEC filing indicates that McMahon agreed to pay $2 million to the plaintiffs in a stockholder lawsuit initiated in January, covering legal expenses. There is a lot to unpack in this situation, as a ton of money is getting moved around.

Vince McMahon reached an agreement to pay $2 million in legal fees based on a stockholder lawsuit filed in January against WWE and McMahon for alleged breach of fiduciary duty regarding McMahon’s return to the company and changing certain bylaws that gave him all the power of the board of directors, as well as costing the company money in its investigation of McMahon. After the threats of the lawsuit, McMahon changed back to the original bylaws, essentially making the lawsuit moot, since the new board that he had picked several of the members were not going to remove him from power. In addition, McMahon had paid the company back the $17.4 million for the investigation into him. The lawsuit continued at that point over the legal fees from the case, and it was settled with McMahon agreeing to pay the legal fees of the plaintiffs

This amount is separate from the $17.4 million McMahon had to reimburse the company to cover the investigation costs into his actions, which was a key element of the lawsuit. The court ordered the larger sum in March, while the $2 million was agreed upon in May.

The lawsuit, filed by WWE stockholders Carole Casale and Chrystal Lavalle in January, also aimed to address McMahon’s alteration of the company’s bylaws, which allowed him to reappoint himself to the Board of Directors after stepping down in 2022. Upon realizing the nature of the lawsuit, McMahon reverted the bylaws to their previous version, making that aspect of the lawsuit irrelevant.

However, Vince McMahon’s legal troubles are not over yet. In July, he was served with a federal search warrant and a subpoena from a Grand Jury, indicating further legal challenges ahead.

We will have to see what happens in this situation with Vince McMahon, because he’s back with WWE, and running the company. That being said, there is still a search warrant that was issued in August, which may come back on him eventually.
