Vince McMahon Addresses WWE Staff After Law Enforcement Action with Search Warrant and Subpoena

WWE recently released its second-quarter 2023 financial results, which included legal notes related to the 2022 investigation into Vince McMahon by the company’s Board of Directors.

As previously reported, allegations of sexual harassment and hush money payments surfaced against McMahon in 2022. Following the investigation, McMahon temporarily stepped away from WWE but later returned.

The filing mentioned that federal law enforcement agents executed search warrant and served a federal grand jury subpoena on McMahon on July 17, 2023. However, no charges have been filed in connection with these investigations.

In response to the situation, McMahon sent an internal email to WWE employees, stating that a special committee was formed in 2022 to review the allegations against him. He mentioned that the review concluded in November 2022 after an extensive investigation. Throughout the process, McMahon has maintained his denial of any intentional wrongdoing and continues to do so. He expressed confidence that the ongoing government investigation will ultimately find no evidence of wrongdoing.

In the email, McMahon also mentioned his focus on recovering from recent spinal surgery and on finalizing the transaction with Endeavor, which will create a significant global sports and entertainment brand.

“In 2022, WWE formed a special committee to review allegations of misconduct against me. That review was concluded in November 2022 following an extensive investigation. Throughout this experience, I have always denied any intentional wrongdoing and continue to do so. I am confident that the government’s investigation will be resolved without any findings of wrongdoing. I am focused on completing the recovery process from my recent spinal surgery and on closing our transaction with Endeavor, which will create one of the preeminent global sports and entertainment brands.”
