Cody Rhodes Addresses Past Anti-WWE Remarks Ahead of NXT Appearance

Cody Rhodes is certainly one of the most beloved stars in WWE right now. Cody’s stock continues to increase with every passing week, and that’s not going to change anytime soon. He was a major star in AEW, but that’s a thing of the past now. That said, Rhodes addressed his previous anti-WWE comments ahead of his NXT appearance next week.

Cody Rhodes suddenly departed AEW in February last year, leaving fans in shock. Before his exit, Rhodes was a standout performer in AEW, helping put over numerous talent with his solid performances in the ring.

While he is no longer working in AEW, that does not mean Cody Rhodes doesn’t think fondly of his time there. Rhodes is set to make an announcement on NXT next week, which is set to go head-to-head with AEW Dynamite.

A fan took to Twitter and uploaded a few clips of Cody Rhodes during his time in AEW, where he took shots at WWE, stating that it’s awkward as Rhoes is now going against AEW with his NXT appearance. Rhodes responded to the tweet, making it clear that it isn’t awkward at all as he enjoyed his time in AEW and wished the company well.

Not really. I enjoyed my time there. Always tried to win, poured my heart in soul into the place, helped create and build it. Issue arose and I left. Much love and respect for many of the folks on that team. Wish them well.

The American Nightmare also believes he should not have let certain AEW wrestlers beat him. Regardless, we’ll have to see what announcement Rhodes will have to make on NXT next week.
