In a surprising and heartwarming turn of events, Johnny Gargano made his WWE return after a five-month absence, reuniting with his former DIY tag team partner, Tommaso Ciampa, on the latest episode of RAW.
Gargano’s return couldn’t have come at a better time, as he swooped in to save Ciampa from a relentless attack by Imperium. His absence from WWE screens had seen Ciampa on a mission to locate his missing partner, a quest that has finally reached its conclusion.
Both Gargano and Ciampa shared their thoughts on the reunion on social media. Ciampa, visibly overjoyed, posted a heartwarming image of their reunion, complete with a “Missing” poster that had been part of the search effort.
Gargano, equally thrilled, tweeted, “the boys are back,” and added a more extended message: “And as we all know from our past… you have to stay after the lower third airs!”
DIY have a storied history in WWE’s NXT brand. They are former NXT Tag Team Champions, with Gargano achieving the honor of being the first NXT Triple Crown Champion. Their rivalry in 2018 earned them the distinction of having the “Rivalry of the Year” in the NXT Year-End Awards.
Gargano’s last appearance on WWE television was in May when he participated in an Intercontinental Championship Battle Royal. While his televised appearances were scarce during his absence, he had sporadically wrestled at untelevised events leading up to his heartwarming return alongside Ciampa.
The reunion of DIY has undoubtedly brought joy to fans of both NXT and WWE, and many are excited to see what the future holds for this dynamic tag team.
