WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long has a ton of stories that he raked up in his career. One story about smoking weed with Randy Orton is so good, he just couldn’t keep it to himself.
Teddy Long had a lengthy tenure with WWE, initially as a match official before becoming the general manager for SmackDown, arguably the peak of his career. He was known for booking big matches, and even making people go one-on-one with The Undertaker.
During a recent interview with Wrestling Shoot Interviews, Teddy Long reminisced about sharing a joint with Randy Orton. He mentioned that they had one final dark match to go and were relaxing in The Viper’s bus. Then things took an unexpected turn.
“So me and Randy, we’re on the bus, and we’re smoking. I think we were done, so we were high as a kite. Next thing I know, it was time to make the dark match. I ran out to make the dark match and Randy’s in the dark match. We were in St. Louis, his hometown. I’m so high, I’m going, ‘He’s The Viper, he’s The Legend Killer, he’s your hometown boy.’ So I’m just going crazy.”
“By the time I’m going through Gorilla and Vince is standing up. He’s waiting on me, and he’s telling me, ‘Come here.’ I walked over there, and I knew I was in trouble. He says to me, ‘You in business for yourself out there?’ I said, ‘No.’ He says, ‘Goddamn it, they know he’s the Legend Killer. It’s his hometown. They know he’s The Viper. Why in the hell you gotta keep telling them?’ I just caught myself, and I said, ‘ Sir, you’re exactly right. I was playing. That will never happen again.’ He said, ‘Yeah, you’re better than that.’ That was the only time I had a problem with him.”
Randy Orton and marijuana have been connected in many stories. Not only did WWE give Orton weed jokes during his time with Matt Riddle in RKBro, but he’s also known to be smoker as well. He even blazed up with Snoop Dogg in the past.
Teddy Long and Randy Orton certainly had a few good times on the road. If anything it resulted in this entertaining story where Vince McMahon was apparently none the wiser that Long had a bit of herbal inspiration before he cut that promo in St. Louis.
We will keep a close eye on this story, and many others, right here at Ringside News. You never know what each day will bring, and those stories are never boring at all.
