WWE Hall Of Famer Eric Bischoff is one of the most respected veterans in the pro wrestling business, as many believe his mind for the industry is invaluable. He has been a major critic of AEW for the past couple of years and now it appears he explained what AEW should learn from WWE SummerSlam.

The WWE SummerSlam Premium Live Event was certainly a night of memorable matches and incredible moments, as it once again continued WWE’s streak of record-breaking Premium Live Events.

While speaking on his 83 Weeks podcast, Eric Bischoff talked about what AEW should learn from WWE SummerSlam. He advised AEW to keep the audience engaged and pace their shows instead of relying on violence.

Keep that audience engaged, just keep them engaged. Pace the show so that you’re building throughout the entire event, so that you are building towards a crescendo. Keep the anticipation growing, build that energy throughout hte event. Don’t overdo the blood and guts, because that’s not what does it. That might be what hte roster thinks gets over, but the roster doesn’t really udnderstand as well as the producer of the show or director does because they know what creates the emotion.

Talent sometimes has a tendency of doing what talent thinks gets over and sometimes they’re right. A Bret Hart, Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, Roddy Piper, those guys had a feel because of the thousands of matches they had. They learned. The talent in the AEW roster right now, some of them are obivosuly expeirenced like Chris Jericho. They know, but pace it. The rile ups, that’s the thing that turns me off about AEW more than anything is the blood, the Jon Moxley bleeding every match.

It may get you off but it doesn’t get you over with the audience. Pace yourself and realize that the audience is the star of the show. If you can get the audience to react and keep them reacting, and as close to a fever pithc you can get them. Throughout that three hour event, whatever it’s gonna be – you won.

Eric Bischoff also believes NXT will surpass AEW Dynamite in ratings. Regardless, we will have to wait and see whether AEW will heed Bischoff’s advice and improve their overall pacing.
