Triple H brought back a few people who left the company for one reason or another over the past few years. Cathy Kelley’s departure from NXT was a sad one, and tears were shed. She returned to the main roster, and her own tears really brought a lot of attention before SummerSlam.

Prior to SummerSlam, Cathy Kelley did a WWE digital exclusive interview with Paul Heyman. They were discussing Roman Reigns and Jey Uso’s Undisputed Universal Title match, but nobody expected things to get so emotional.

Ringside News was told by a tenured member of the WWE creative team that Cathy Kelley got a ton of praise for that promo. She was in tears by the end of Paul Heyman’s speech, and instead of closing out the video in typical fashion, she just motioned for the camera to “cut” in very emotional fashion.

We were told that, “no one knows if that was a shoot or not, she’s not telling anyone and all the talent is asking because the promo was so hot.” In the end, Heyman’s promo might have struck an emotional chord with her.

For whatever reason, after Paul Heyman cut that promo about how “we all have demons in our past,” Cathy Kelley had tears going down her face. That being said, the promo is still getting a lot of buzz within WWE.

It is interesting that this promo with Paul Heyman and Cathy Kelley brought so much attention before the loaded SummerSlam event. We will have to see what’s next for Cathy Kelley, but she seemed to impress a lot of people with her work before the biggest party of the summer.
