When a show is based on real-life people, fans of that particular show will undoubtedly want the actors to resemble real-life people as much as possible. However, that does not always happen and this was exactly what happened in ”Young Rock.” In fact, even The Undertaker didn’t like his portrayal in the show.

While the show took creative liberties, not everything portrayed was true to life. For instance, the character Chad Frost wasn’t even on WWE television.

In the case of portraying The Undertaker, actor Josh Rawiri did his best to embody The Phenom. However, The Undertaker himself had some reservations about certain aspects of the portrayal, particularly the hat provided for the character.

During a Patreon exclusive Q&A for his Six Feet Under podcast, The Undertaker talked about his character’s portrayal on the sitcom. The Deadman admitted he wasn’t really a fan of his casting choice in the show. He mentioned that if he were to cast The Rock in a sitcom of his own, he might retaliate by casting someone unexpected like Steve Urkel to portray him.

It’s a comedy, right? So there has to be some elements of, I guess, the casting in some comedic light. What pissed me off about the whole damn thing was my hat. The hat really pissed me off. I didn’t like the hat. They gave me some kind of just black clown hat. So because I didn’t like the hat I would, if it was ‘Young Taker,’ and I had to cast The Rock, I don’t maybe Urkel or somebody.”

Fans also dragged the show for their casting of The Undertaker and even ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin. Regardless, ‘Young Rock’ was cancelled after three seasons so casting criticism doesn’t really matter anymore.
