In WWE’s second quarter financial results reported on August 2, 2023, several legal updates concerning Vince McMahon were disclosed. These updates pertain to the Board of Directors’ investigation conducted in 2022, which looked into allegations of misconduct against McMahon, including allegations of sexual harassment and hush money payments.

The investigation resulted in expenses incurred by WWE for costs related to the investigation and legal fees in connection with related lawsuits. Vince McMahon has agreed to reimburse the company for reasonable costs incurred during the investigation, and he has paid approximately $17.4 million to date.

In addition to the ongoing investigation, on July 17, 2023, federal law enforcement agents executed a search warrant and served a federal grand jury subpoena on Vince McMahon. As of now, no charges have been brought in relation to this investigation.

Following the recent developments, Vince McMahon underwent major spinal surgery on July 21, 2023. As a result, he went on medical leave and will remain on leave until further notice. Despite being on medical leave, McMahon will continue to serve as the Executive Chairman of WWE.
