AEW is known to present exciting matches, and drama filled the main event of Dynamite last week with Blood & Guts. In the end, Jon Moxley gave up for his team, but there was a much different idea for a certain time.

During the AEW Dynamite episode on July 19th, 2023, The Golden Elite emerged victorious in an intense Blood and Guts steel cage match against Blackpool Combat Club. That match almost had a different ending.

SI.com’s Justin Barrasso reported a couple of noteworthy news items related to the match. According to Barrasso, the match exceeded its originally planned duration, extending longer than initially intended. Further details on the matter were not disclosed.

“The original plan was to have roughly 10 minutes left after the finish, but it turned out to be only two. A big moment for [Adam] Page was scratched because of the lack of time, but all of the other key points were hit, with the notable exception being the postmatch interview from Omega.”

AEW fans love the Blood & Guts match, and they had positive things to say about this year’s encounter. That being said, we’ll never know if this alternative finish might have gone over better.

The Blood & Guts match was still memorable, even if they had to change up their plans for that match. We will have to see what the AEW landscape looks like the next time that imposing match rolls around, but fans in Boston got quite a show this year.
