Andy Kaufman, a cherished comedian of the 70s and 80s, is fondly remembered by numerous fans for his performance on the “Taxi” series from 1978 to 1983. He also has big ties to pro wrestling and now it appears The Rock will be producing the first-ever documentary based on his life.

Andy Kaufman made an indelible mark in the world of professional wrestling with his controversial feud against WWE Hall Of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler in Memphis wrestling back in 1983.

Andy Kaufman captivated the attention of wrestling fans by challenging women from the audience to impromptu wrestling matches, a tactic that earned him a lot of heat as a heel. Kaufman’s popularity soared, and he was booked for more shows, culminating in a momentous piledriver from Lawler.

According to a report by Deadline, The Rock’s and Dany Garcia’s Seven Bucks Productions alongside Campfire Studios, Worldwide Pants Incorporated and Fifth Season will be producing the first-ever documentary based on Andy Kaufman’s life.

David Letterman will be the Executive Producer for Worldwide Pants, along with Tom Keaney, Tyler Kaufman, Tweel, Tommy Avallone, Ross Girard and Rebecca Evans. We’ll have to wait and see how the documentary will turn out once it finally drops.
