Cody Rhodes was immediately presented as a major star after returning to WWE at WrestleMania 38 and in just a span of one year, he went on to main event WrestleMania 39 this year. However, he did not get the ending that fans wanted and now it appears Rhodes explained why he never mentions the loss.

The American Nightmare challenged Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship in the main event of WrestleMania 39 Sunday. Fans all over the world believed Rhodes to be the one to finally dethrone Reigns.

However, that was not the case as Roman Reigns won the match after numerous interferences from The Bloodline. Cody Rhodes’ loss infuriated many fans and pro wrestlers alike.

While speaking with BT Sport’s Ariel Helwani, Cody Rhodes revealed why exactly he has not mentioned Roman Reigns or his crushing WrestleMania 39 defeat much on WWE television.

“One thing I didn’t want to do was whine. My buddy, Sean Ross Sapp, half buddy, half not. He was saying, ‘I wish Cody would talk about how he got screwed at WrestleMania.’

I’m thinking, that’s not the way to do it, I’d be kicking my own ass. No. The story is unfinished. It is. I wanted to move and try to get back to finishing it. That’s where I was at.

I quickly didn’t get over it, it’s not a pain you get over, but I quickly was able to ‘chin up’ and move on to the next thing. Coming to Raw was really tough for me, from a character standpoint and a human standpoint. Very tough.”

Cody Rhodes defeated Dominik Mysterio at the Money In The Bank Premium Live Event. We will have to wait and see whether Rhodes will eventually get revenge on Roman Reigns and finally finish the story.

What’s your view on what Cody Rhodes said? Do you want him to finally defeat Roman Reigns? Sound off in the comments!
