Carmelo Hayes worked hard to make himself one of the highlights of NXT. His impeccable in-ring skills and athleticism helped him win over fans as well. He has developed a lot in NXT and is the current NXT Champion. He was also defeated by Finn Balor in his RAW debut this week, but it appears he isn’t fazed by his loss whatsoever.

Carmelo Hayes eventually defeated Bron Breakker earlier this year to become the NXT Champion. He would then go on to defend his title successfully and has continued to become a major draw for the brand.

As seen on this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW, Carmelo Hayes appeared on the show. He would then square off against Finn Balor in a singles match. Despite his best efforts, Carmelo Hayes wasn’t able to win the match.

While speaking during an interview after Monday Night RAW went off the air, Carmelo Hayes made it clear that he isn’t fazed by the loss as he lost against one of the best in the world, which isn’t anything to be ashamed of.

If I gotta take a loss to one of the best in the world, I can accept that. But, listen, the important thing is tomorrow night against Baron Corbin, for the NXT Championship, I am not 100 percent, but I believe I can beat Baron at 75 percent, at 50 percent, [or] at 25 percent. I know he’s gonna put up a great fight, but I’m ready, man. I might take a loss, but I look in the mirror and I’m still Carmelo Hayes. That’ a W.”

Carmelo Hayes is set to defend his NXT Championship against Baron Corbin on this week’s episode of NXT. We’ll have to wait and see whether Hayes will be able to retain his title against the much larger Corbin.

What’s your opinion on what Carmelo Hayes said? Do you think he will eventually find success on the main roster? Sound off in the comments!
