Vince McMahon Allowed Kurt Angle & Shawn Michaels Decide Winner of WrestleMania Match

WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle has accomplished a lot during his time in WWE, having a remarkable rookie year and going on to become a legend in the business. He gained favor with the likes of Vince McMahon, earning his trust in the process. It appears that McMahon allowed Angle and Shawn Michaels to decide the winner of their WrestleMania 21 match.

Kurt Angle has squared off against the best of the best the pro wrestling world had to offer, including the likes of The Undertaker, Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels. Clearly, Angle’s reputation speaks for itself.

The 2005 rivalry between Shawn Michaels and Kurt Angle is hailed as one of the best feuds in WWE history, which featured their all-time classic match at WrestleMania 21. In what was a technical masterpiece, it was Kurt Angle who came out on top.

While speaking on The Kurt Angle Show, Kurt Angle revealed that Vince McMahon let them decide the winner. Shawn Michaels wanted Angle to win as he was scheduled to feud with John Cena right after that.

”Listen, there’s no doubt in my mind that if Shawn was going to lose at WrestleMania to me, I’m gonna have to pay it back. There’s no doubt about it. Yes, that’s how it works. And I don’t blame him. I was willing to do that, because he did me a huge favour.

Actually, Vince didn’t have a winner for WrestleMania. He had us work it out between ourselves. And Shawn said, Listen, I’ll put you over. Because I know, this is what he said, and I totally forgot this. He said, You know what, you’re gonna end up doing a programme with Cena afterward, and what you need is a good win right now.

So that is why I knew that I was going to work with Cena, even though I didn’t, I thought it was going to work with Cena. Yeah, because Shawn told me, you should get the win right here because you’re going to be paired up against John Cena after this.”

Kurt Angle also regretted not having huge merchandise sales like Steve Austin and John Cena. He also recently turned down a WWE Draft appearance. It remains to be seen what the future holds for Angle next.
