Drew McIntyre’s WWE contract status is a big mystery right now. He seems to be up in the air regarding his deal with the company, and he is still off television. That being said, Drew McIntyre might have some influential people in his ear advising him to see what AEW has to offer.

The fact is that Drew McIntyre has left WWE before and made a huge name for himself outside the company. Then he returned to WWE and became NXT Champion almost immediately. That was followed by a nice run before his main roster call-up, where he went on to hold the WWE Title twice. He might just have to leave WWE again to prove a point.

Teddy Long spoke about Drew McIntyre during the Wrestling Binge. The WWE Hall of Famer advised the Scottish Warrior to go ahead and leave WWE for AEW, because it would give him a fresh start.

“My opinion on it, I don’t think he’s going to go back to that title spot no more. You know what I mean?

“They did a lot with Drew McIntyre. He’s been fantastic for them. Even myself had a chance to work with him too in storylines you know when he was Vince’s ‘Chosen One’ or something, I think that’s what it was.

“If AEW wants to take him, I think he should go, you know, that’s a fresh start there. So maybe he’s got a two or three-year run right there.

“I don’t know, that decision will be left to him but I mean what he can do is maybe talk and find out if there are any plans for him.

“If there’s some plans for him down the line then hang around and wait until it’s time. But if they don’t have nothing for you, there are no plans then the writing’s on the wall.”

To be fair, Drew McIntyre’s absence from television could end this week with RAW and SmackDown. After all, his name was called to the blue brand during the 2023 WWE Draft. Only time will tell what’s in store for him, but the Scottish Warrior’s time in WWE isn’t over yet.

Drew McIntyre’s WWE contract is reportedly up at the end of 2023. He hasn’t signed a new contract, and the two sides are reportedly far apart when it comes to money.

We will continue covering Drew McIntyre’s WWE contract situation right here at Ringside News. We still have a long way to go before Drew McIntyre has to 100% make a decision, but his status is very much up in the air right now.
