WWE hasn’t been to Puerto Rico since 2005’s New Year’s Revolution, and they haven’t been back until this week. Fans in Puerto Rico are incredibly excited about the possibilities that Backlash will bring, and their reception has already impressed WWE higher-ups. It seems that WWE is well aware that they haven’t been around Puerto Rico for so long.

Fans on the island can’t wait to see the big event. Bad Bunny, Damian Preist, and Zelina Vega will all represent Puerto Rico on the card, but the main event might have been swapped around bit. That being said, WWE is still impressed with the reception so far.

Sean Sapp noted behind Fightful’s paywall that a joke is going around on WWE live event reports, because they are marking this as the highest ticket grossing event WWE has seen in Puerto Rico “for years.” Obviously, they are aware of the irony in that statement.

There were joking mentions in WWE live events reports that it was WWE’s highest grossing Puerto Rico RAW/SD in years — it was their first in years.

WWE also made lot of money to hold Backlash in Puerto Rico, and they are well aware that fans wanted this show. Hopefully, it won’t take over a decade and a seven-figure payday for WWE to get back to the island.

The LWO is also huge hit in Puerto Rico. Sadly, that popularity won’t help Zelina Vega’s chances of beating Rhea Ripley.

What’s your take on WWE going back to Puerto Rico? Do you think it should have taken this long for them to get back there? Sound off in the comments!
