AEW has inked deals with a lot of people over the past several months, and a few of them already had plenty of dates on their schedule to fulfil on the indies. That being said, one star is not going to risk injury at a show that isn’t operated by Tony Khan.

Indie wrestling can put a lot of stress on talent. They have to make it to a show in a new venue, sometimes working in a ring that they are unfamiliar with, only to make their money on merch sales (if possible); and those events are also rarely filmed by a professional setup. Needless to say, there’s a reason why a lot of AEW talent have lightened their load on the indies.

Komander recently inked deal with AEW, and he’s not taking any chances. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that Komander has been doing a “worked injury angle” at indie events to save his body from having to wrestle a match.

Komander has been doing a worked injury spot on some of his indie dates of late. What happened is some people sat him down and talked with him about saving his body now that he’s got a real contract in place that pays real money.

There will likely come a time when Komander will only wrestle if it’s for AEW, and that is probably what Tony Khan wants. The AEW roster has seen far too many injuries occur at events that Tony Khan didn’t run, and he’s probably tired of that trend.

For what it’s worth, Komander is great, but he still needs a bit of work. Jay White had to literally save him from few major botches during their match.

We’ll have to see what Komander does next in AEW. Obviously, he has some very wise people in his ear who have smartened him up on the opportunity he has.

What’s your take on Komander in AEW? Do you think that he will be a champion soon? Sound off in the comments!
