Brock Lesnar is now a free agent, and he’s allowed to jump from any brand he wants. This opens up a lot of possibilities for the Beast Incarnate in WWE, but that might not have always been the plan.

Ringside News exclusively reported couple of weeks ago that Vince McMahon had had changed anything about the 2023 Draft at that time. We also exclusively reported that the 2023 WWE Draft had no bearing on Vince McMahon’s return to the company, or vice versa. It was later exclusively reported that Vince McMahon largely kept his hands off the 2023 WWE Draft picks.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer commented on Brock Lesnar’s free agent status as a last minute decision. In the end, Brock Lesnar is going to do what he wants.

“I don’t know if it’s one of those things, because he was supposed to be picked on today’s show, and then they announce at the beginning of the show that he’s not eligible to be picked, because he’s gonna do whatever he wants. It seems like that was a change, but this year he was advertised to be picked by one brand or another.”

Ringside News reached out to confirm this story, and we were told that “the decision was changed.” We were also told that changing this decision was not seen as a big deal.

Both USA Network and FOX wanted a piece of Brock Lesnar, and making him a free agent is a great consolation. Now, he will be able to jump brands as he battles with different WWE Superstars.

Brock Lesnar is not the only free agent this year. Along with Lesnar, other free agents include Omos, Von Wagner, Mustafa Ali, Dolph Ziggler, Baron Corbin, Cedric Alexander, Shelton Benjamin, Apollo Crews, and Xyon Quinn. Crews, Wagner, and Quinn all received call-ups from NXT to become free agents on the WWE main roster.

Only time will tell how this situation turns out with Brock Lesnar in 2023. He could very well have a huge title run in his future, as WWE seeks to crown a new World Heavyweight Champion. Then again, Lesnar could always want to finish old business with Roman Reigns, and Lesnar can make that leap to SmackDown if he wishes as well.

What’s your take on Brock Lesnar’s free agency status? Do you think that is a good move? Sound off in the comments!
