Preston Vance was introduced as a member of The Dark Order and was initially loved by fans for being the muscle of the faction. That did not last forever as he eventually turned heel and even unmasked himself. Now it appears Vance revealed why he finally unmasked himself.

Preston Vance aka “Number 10” turned his back on The Dark Order during the November 25, 2022 edition of AEW Rampage. He betrayed the faction and joined RUSH and Jose the Assistant as the newest member of La Faccion Ingobernable.

Preston Vance also unmasked himself and has never worn the mask ever since. While speaking on AEW Unrestricted, Preston Vance revealed that his eventual heel turn was positive and that Chris Jericho was a big influence in the change.

Preston Vance would then go on to discuss his unmasking and the events that led to it. Vance also opened up about the challenges he had to face after finally revealing his face to the world.

“I remember I was somewhere backstage and Andrade (El Idolo) pulled me aside and was like, ‘Hey, I’m gonna go to Tony. I want you with us. I think you’d look cool in a suit, take off the mask’ and I’m like, ‘Yeah. Let’s do it.’

I was doing the ‘10’ thing for, at that point, like three years so, I was pretty ready to change. I never liked wearing the mask. I never wore it before AEW.

It’s hard trying to connect with the people when you’re under a mask. There are pros and cons to it. A pro is that you never have to worry about facial expressions or anything but the con is I mean literally, it’s hard to show any enthusiasm. It’s all body language, body language and so I’m pretty glad I’m done with the mask.”

Preston Vance has been a regular on AEW Rampage, AEW Dark and AEW Dark: Elevation since December of last year. We’ll have to see if he will make his way back to AEW Dynamite eventually.
