Sasha Banks left WWE and eventually became a free agent when her contract expired. It didn’t take her very long to end up in NJPW, where she won their women’s title. Now that she has lost that title, we have a bit more clarity about how things are going for her in Japan.

There were some reported backstage issues with Sasha Banks in WWE. She walked out on the company a couple of times, with her latest being the final one so far. Those issues stemmed from her problem with Vince McMahon’s creative.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that there are no such issues with Mercedes Mone in Japan. She did not try to “big league” anyone, and she gave no issues about losing her title either.

“She was very well received backstage. She’s really trying to fit in. No complaints about doing the job (losing the match) here. No ‘big league’ or whatever, she did not act like ‘I’m a big (star)’.

“A lot of times when American stars come to Japan, they act like they’re big stars. Less now, but in the old days it was pretty prevalent. And she had none of that.

“She’s worldwide more famous than any of these women, but she did not come across like that at all. Very, very well received.”

Mercedes Mone is not leaving NJPW. She inked a new deal with the company, and she will continue working for them. The length of her new deal was not revealed, but she’s not leaving any time soon.

We’ll have to keep our eyes on Mercedes Mone in Japan, because she’s already done big things. Now, as a former IWGP Women’s Champion, we get to see what she will do after the dust settles from her title reign. It’s also nice to know that there are no political issues backstage surrounding the former Sasha Banks.
