Mercedes Mone has never shied away from the fact that Eddie Guerrero was an inspiration to her. She spoke about this in great detail when she was Sasha Banks. Now, as Mercedes Mone, she is still paying tribute to Latino Heat.

The IWGP Women’s Title just changed hands. Mercedes Mone battled Mayu Iwatani at Sunday’s STARDOM’s All Star Grand Queendom event, with the IWGP Women’s Title on the line. That match ended with a new champion in Japan.

While some fans might argue that Mercedes Mone paid tribute to The Rock with her cringe-worth guitar promo on Mayu. Her ring gear before her big title loss paid tribute to someone else.

Mercedes Mone logged onto Twitter, where she dropped a couple photos of herself in Japan last night. She included a caption to make sure that fans understood exactly where she drew that inspiration.

Viva La Raza forever! You will never stop inspiring me Eddie Guerrero.

I wouldn’t be here without you. #TheCEO

Eddie Guerrero also had a hiatus from WWE where he did his own thing outside the company. He eventually returned to start an incredible run that influenced a generation after him. We’ll have to see if Mercedes Mone makes a return to WWE, but it certainly seems like she is on her way to doing great things.
