AEW started up their company by telling talent that they would not restrict their work on the indies. While some preferred to take a lighter indie schedule, now they might not have a choice.

This has already caused an issue with Jon Moxley’s attendance at the AEW house show, because it was booked on the same night as ScrapperMania. Eddie Kingston was booked to replace Mox, but then King had to pull out.

Sean Sapp noted behind Fightful’s paywall that AEW is starting to reduce their talents’ indie schedules. Tony Khan is expanding AEW’s events and they need people to work the weekends now.

We’ve had questions regarding AEW and indie dates. We haven’t heard of AEW reducing indie dates, but with the expanded schedule on the horizon, many AEW talent could be more active within the company on weekends, leading to less indie dates.
