WWE WrestleMania will be here before we know it, but there is some question about what match will main event night 1. Despite the graphic that they showed on ESPN’s first take, John Cena vs Austin Theory will open night 1 with a United States Title match. Now, there is a lot of question about which match will close out night 1.

Sean Sapp reported behind Fightful’s paywall to say that, “the exact WrestleMania main event has been in question for quite some time.” That being said, night 2 is solid, with Roman Reigns vs Cody Rhodes closing out the show, but night 1 is another story.

The report went on to say that Charlotte Flair and Rhea Ripley have not been contacted about having that match. It was also believed for some time now that the WWE Undisputed Tag Team Title match with Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn vs the Usos should close out night 1.

Recently, Fightful Select reported that talent had not been informed as to who would be main eventing night one of WrestleMania. A day before the show, we’ve learned a little bit more about where WWE at least has been leaning.

WWE sources indicated as of Friday that Rhea Ripley and Charlotte Flair had not been told they were main eventing the match, but it was believed that those involved in the tag team match had been made aware that they could prepare for that slot. One WWE source claimed that had been the case for the last couple of weeks, and many within the company had operated on the assumption that the tag team match would main event.

It was also reported that, “thought had been given to Rhea Ripley and Charlotte Flair main eventing because women didn’t main event last year.” Obviously, that didn’t happen either.

Those that we’ve spoken to within the company believe the tag team match is going to main event, but believe it will be finalized at Saturday morning’s production meeting.

WWE’s biggest event of the year is certain to contain a lot of surprises. The company’s CEO Nick Khan confirmed that on ESPN First Take. Only time will tell what people are talking about the most on Monday morning.
