Vince McMahon’s name is often associated with controversy, but that hit another level when he was forced to retire from WWE due to a hush money allegation. Although Mr. McMahon did return to WWE, there was a time when a lot of questions remained. Now that he is back with WWE, and positioning the company for a sale, John Cena admits those conversations are out of his paygrade. Still, he is standing by McMahon.

WWE is expected to sell to a new buyer by the middle of 2023. They are also ready to start taking first-round offers from perspective buyers. Vince McMahon is heavily involved in that process, one that could see legalized gambling on matches by the time the situation concludes. Through it all, John Cena has given his vote of confidence.

While speaking to The Associated Press, John Cena was asked about the hush money allegations against Vince McMahon, and whether it was difficult for him to come to terms with that controversy. John Cena made it clear that he loves Vince McMahon, and everyone makes mistakes.

“No. I mean, everyone has the right to have their perspective. I have the right to have mine. When you love somebody, you take them as imperfectly perfect as they are. We all make mistakes, we all have poor decisions. Lord knows I’ve made my collection of poor choices. That doesn’t mean I’m not going to love somebody. There’s no way I can go on record and say I don’t love Vince McMahon.”

John Cena and Vince McMahon are very close outside WWE. The two have gone to dinner with each other, even during Mr. McMahon’s retirement period. McMahon also returned to WWE RAW last week, so he could hang out with John Cena during his one-night return to the company that set up his WrestleMania collision with Austin Theory for the WWE United States Title.

Ringside News exclusively reported that Vince McMahon gave John Cena his blessing to appear for WWE as often as he can, even if he’s not in power. The two obviously have a loyalty between them, and it doesn’t seem that any present controversy will change things.
