Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn threw down in a barn burner of a main event in Montreal at Elimination Chamber. That match was actually supposed to be their only encounter, but plans can always change around WWE.

WWE announced that Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn will have a rematch for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title at the March 4th house show in Toronoto. That was not WWE’s original plan for the event, but plans can always change when the atmosphere calls for it.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted WWE’s original plan for that Toronto match. It was also noted why WWE went ahead and ran Roman Reigns vs Sami Zayn back instead.

The decision was made for the 3/4 show in Toronto to switch the main event from Reigns & Sikoa vs Zayn & Owens to a Reigns vs. Zayn rematch. With where the current storyline is, having Zayn & Owens already teaming up before they get back together makes no sense storyline wise. This is a real test in the sense the Toronto audience is savvy enough to believe the title won’t change hands on a house show, but it’s still a special house show match that they are the only ones getting. Tickets were at 5,244 for the show at the Coca Cola Coliseum when Reigns was announced, and within a few days he got that up to 5,807. A few days later the announcement of Reigns vs. Zayn got it to 6,390 and it could sell out

We will have to see what Sami Zayn’s road to WrestleMania looks like. All speculation places him in a tag team encounter alongside Kevin Owens against The Usos for WWE’s Undisputed Tag Team Titles. Only time will tell if the Bloodline will succeed in that contest.

The story is far from closed for Sami Zayn, as he comes off the 20th, and best, year of his pro wrestling journey. For more on this story, and so much more, keep it tuned with us at Ringside News.
