CM Punk had a solid 2022 in AEW. Punk finally became the undisputed AEW World Champion at All Out, but had to relinquish the title because of his involvement in a post-show brawl with The Elite. His latest appearance might come as a shock to his peers and fans alike.

Sean Sapp reported on Punk’s weekend getaway from behind Fightful’s paywall. According to the report, Punk is in attendance for New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Battle in the Valley at San Jose Civic in San Jose, California.

A picture from the event that made to social media showed Punk in the audience with Lars Fredriksen and talking to Gisele Shaw and others. You can check out the photo at the end of the article.

CM Punk’s attendance at Battle in the Valley will undoubtedly raise questions about his pro wrestling future on social media. Some might suggest that the Second City Saint is at the event to show support for Mercedes Moné, who is set to face IWGP Women’s Champion Kairi at the event.

Others will argue that Punk wants to work for NJPW amid his continued absence from AEW. Punk’s latest social activity comes days after Chris Jericho said he’s always loved working with the Second City Saint.
