Jinder Mahal honed his craft in Dusty Rhodes’ NXT before transitioning to the main roster, where he won the WWE Championship. Tonight, the Modern Day Maharaja made his shocking return to WWE’s developmental brand.

Jinder Mahal made his return during Sanga’s segment with the Creed Bros. Indus Sher (Sanga and Veer Mahaan) were originally booked to take on Brutus and Julius Creed tonight on NXT: New Year’s Evil.

Veer, however, didn’t appear alongside Sanga; prompting the Creeds to question his credibility. The NXT crowd popped as Jinder Mahal attacked the brothers from behind. Mahal set up the steel steps for Sanga to slam Brutus on it. The heel duo then re-entered the ring, where Jinder Mahal cut a quick promo.

“Veer and Sanga fight for respect, but I don’t.”
