Athena showed a lot of aggression in the buildup to her Ring of Honor Women’s World Championship match against defending champion Mercedes Martinez. Tonight, she finally claimed the gold.

Athena took on Mercedes Martinez for the Ring of Honor Women’s World Championship during Final Battle tonight. The former Ember Moon showed a violent and sadistic side during the match.

Athena had the crowd at the College Park Center in Arlington, Texas, rooting for her throughout the match as well. Athena sent Martinez crashing into the exposed turnbuckle with a drop kick. She then hit Eclipse on the champion for the win.

This is Athena’s first singles title win in Tony Khan’s promotion. She currently holds the Warrior Wrestling Women’s Championship as well. Check out her ROH Women’s World Championship win here:
