Contract Signing Set For WWE Smackdown Tonight

WWE’s first brand-specific World Cup came to a wrap last week when Ricochet defeated Santo Escobar to win the trophy and the #1 contender spot for the Intercontinental Championship. It seems there might be a segment today to spice things up before the upcoming match for the Intercontinental Championship.

According to Fightful Select, tonight’s Smackdown will see a contract signing segment between the Intercontinental Champion and its #1 contender. The report also stated that the creative for tonight’s Smackdown was wrapped up by Thursday evening.

Next week would see Ricochet face off with Intercontinental Champion Gunther. This will be Ricochet’s second shot at retrieving the Intercontinental Championship from Gunther, who triumphed over him earlier this year.

The One and Only held the title for 97 days before dropping it to Gunther. Gunther’s reign on the other hand is currently at 183 days, almost double the time that Ricochet had it.

Wrestling fans know all too well that no contract signing goes down quietly. If the report holds true, expect to see some fists flying in the air on tonight’s Smackdown. For more updates, stay tuned to Ringside News.
