William Regal was released from his WWE contract on January 5, 2022, and that came as shock to the pro wrestling world. The veteran made his AEW debut at the promotion’s Revolution pay-per-view event on March 6, 2022.

Dave Meltzer previously reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that Regal signed a short-term contract with AEW, leading to speculations that the Blackpool native might rejoin Triple H in WWE following the expiration of his current contract.

Meltzer, however, issued a clarification on Monday, stating that Regal signed a multi-year contract with the Jacksonville-based promotion that will keep him with AEW for the foreseeable future.

A correction from last night’s show regarding Regal’s deal. Based on what he said when he signed, his deal signed last spring was for three years.

William Regal is currently involved in a high-profile feud with Jon Moxley that kicked off after Regal helped MJF defeat Mox for the AEW World Championship at the Full Gear pay-per-view event on November 19, 2022.
