William Regal is one of the most revered figures in the pro wrestling business. The Englishman had a solid run in the WWE, both as a competitor and an on-screen authority figure. Regal’s final years with the company saw him run the black and gold version of NXT as its General Manager, as well as a mentor behind the scenes.

Regal was instrumental in putting over many superstars on the map during his time in Triple H’s version of NXT. The former King of the Ring winner used to hype up WarGames in a huge way as well, and the premium live event became synonymous with the iconic catchphrase.

Triple H took to Twitter ahead of WWE Survivor Series WarGames to remember Regal’s iconic uttering of the PLE’s name. The Game posted a compilation of longtime friend and former colleague yelling “WarGames!” with the caption:

William Regal was released from his WWE contract on January 5 2022, after 22 years with the company. He signed up with AEW in March 2022, making his debut at the Jacksonville-based promotion’s Revolution pay-per-view event the same month.
