Colt Cabana’s feud with CM Punk dates back several years to when both men were sued by WWE’s doctor Chris Amaan due to comments made by CM Punk on Colt Cabana’s podcast. After the trial, Cabana claimed that CM Punk offered to pay his legal fees, which Punk denied. That snowballed, and the situation never resolved itself.

Their feud continued into AEW, and fans are still seeing the result of that. When CM Punk signed with the company, Colt Cabana, who was a prominent feature on Dynamite, suddenly stopped appearing on the show.

At the AEW All Out post-media scrum, CM Punk didn’t hold back as he fired shots at his former best friend, even burying him for sharing a bank account with his mother. Ric Flair even claimed on his To Be The Man podcast that he asked Cabana about his feud with CM Punk.

“Colt Cabana walked up to me the other day. Colt Cabana came over and wanted my autograph and I didn’t know who he was. I’ve never met him, right, and the guy goes, This is Colt Cabana.’ Then I stood up and shook his hand. I said, ‘What’s going on with you and Punk?’ He said, ‘It’s a long story.’ So, Punk’s got more long stories with people than I do. [Cabana] a nice kid … really good worker.”

After CM Punk’s suspension, Colt Cabana reappeared on AEW Dynamite to challenge Chris Jericho for the ROH World Championship in a losing effort. It will be interesting to see if Cabana will feature more prominently on the show from now on.
