Matt Cardona was super over with the WWE Universe during his time as Zack Ryder. The Royal Rumble is coming up and that brought out a bogus lineup. Matt Cardona has now commented on that viral lineup that claims he will compete in the 2023 Royal Rumble match.
Due to WWE budget cuts, Cardona and numerous other talent were let go from the company in April 2020. The former Intercontinental Champion spent 15 years with the organization and competed against several well-known talents during that time.
After his departure, Matt Cardona worked for companies like All Elite Wrestling, Game Changer Wrestling, the National Wrestling Alliance, and IMPACT Wrestling. The Long Island native has also enjoyed success on the independent circuit, winning a number of championships.
A fan-made list included 30 wrestlers as competitors in the upcoming WWE Royal Rumble match, and it went viral on social media. Jay White of New Japan Pro Wrestling, CM Punk, and others were also a part of the match lineup.
After a fan shared the photo on Twitter, Matt Cardona took notice. Cardona said that they should’ve classified him as the 13th participant because he placed 13th in this year’s PWI 500.
“Don’t these dumb marks know I should be entrant 13 because I am #13 on the #PWI500? I’m ranked higher than everybody on this list! (Besides my boy @CodyRhodes).”
Matt Cardona appears to have taken the post quite seriously, though. Only time will tell if fans see Matt Cardona’s WWE return at the 2023 Royal Rumble match, but we know that the lineup he replied to was bogus. Keep checking Ringside News for more developments.
