GUNTHER Questions Rey Mysterio’s Motives For Wrestling After WWE SmackDown

GUNTHER had an awe-inspiring run in NXT UK as he became the longest-reigning champion in modern WWE by holding the NXT UK Title for a record 870 days. He dropped the title to Ilja Dragunov at NXT TakeOver 36. He made his way to the main roster and feuded with the likes of Rey Mysterio, for whom he has no respect now.

As seen on this week’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown, GUNTHER defended his Intercontinental Championship against Rey Mysterio. He would defeat Mysterio in dominant fashion and retain his title.

While speaking during a SmackDown Exclusive, GUNTHER questioned Rey Mysterio’s motives when it came to the Intercontinental Championship. In fact, he claimed that Mysterio is no longer passionate about pro wrestling.

“Well, I don’t compare us to each other. Every time I step into this ring, I have given my all to defend this title and to defend the honour and respect of this great sport. Because as I showed, I’m driven by the passion this sport means to me. Rey Mysterio was driven by his own motives. That’s why I’m standing in front of you as the WWE Intercontinental Champion, because, to us, the match is sacred.”

We will have to wait and see what is next in store for the Austrian star. With Rey Mysterio out of the way, it’ll be interesting who will step up to the plate next.
