Belief That GUNTHER Will Get Strong Heat Working With Rey Mysterio

GUNTHER had an amazing run in NXT UK as he became the longest-reigning champion in modern WWE by holding the NXT UK Title for a record 870 days. He dropped the title to Ilja Dragunov at NXT TakeOver 36. 

GUNTHER finally made his way to the US as part of the NXT roster as well. Gunther and Ludwig Kaiser made their main roster debut on Friday Night Smackdown earlier this year.

He is set to defend Intercontinental Championship against Rey Mysterio in a couple of weeks. While speaking on Smack Talk, Dutch Mantell stated that he believes GUNTHER will get strong heel heat after working with Mysterio.

And with Gunther and little Rey, now you see Gunther getting a little heat. When he starts beating up little Rey, they love him, and I think that Gunther is going to get some strong heat now. So, we’ll see.”

Rey challenges Gunther in two weeks for the Intercontinental Championship. It would be interesting to see how this story plays out in the end and if Rey will deliver on his promises.
