Wardlow Admits He Feared Getting Whipped By MJF

Wardlow is certainly one of the more popular homegrown stars in AEW today. With him being the current TNT Champion and on Dynamite regularly, many fans feel it is just a matter of time before he is a world champion. He also had a blood feud with MJF and that included getting lashed by MJF.

On the May 18th episode of AEW Dynamite, Wardlow was in the middle of his biggest feud with MJF. He stood inside the ring as MJF unleashed 10 lashes on his body, while Wardlow just stood still.

Wardlow took those lashes like a champ and didn’t even flinch. He merely smiled, which further angered MJF. While speaking to Fightful, Wardlow admitted that he feared getting whipped by MJF, but that all changed after the first lash.

To be 100% honest, I was really dreading that. Obviously, being whipped with a belt, it’s kind of hard to go into that thinking positively. The adrenaline from the crowd is something you really can’t explain until you felt it. When he smacked me that first time, in my head, I’m like, ‘Gosh, this is gonna suck.’ Then he did it, and I was like, ‘that was it?’ That smile on my face was genuine because it was me going, ‘Oh, this is easy, keep them coming.’ It wasn’t too bad. Thank God for adrenaline. I had some red marks, but I have thick skin, maybe.”

Wardlow squashed MJF at AEW Revolution, bringing an end to their feud for the time being. We will have to wait and see whether they will revisit their feud or not in the future.
