Bodhi Hayward was in the middle of a storyline with Andre Chase when he got his release papers handed to him. Tonight, WWE referenced the former Chase U pupil to continue their televised storyline.

During a backstage segment with Andre Chase on NXT this week, Thea Hale looked over at the flag off to the side and asked, “who’s gonna carry the flag?” This was an obvious reference to the released superstar.

Suddenly, Duke Hudson busted through a paper wall and volunteered to carry the flag. Later on, Booker T said, “that other kid got his scholarship yanked” on two occasions. Hudson showed extreme enthusiasm during Thea Hail’s match with Kiana James as well.

In storyline, Duke Hudson had Bodhi Hayward taken care of in order to take his place as a prized pupil of Andre Chase University. Hayward reacted to his NXT release in a video message where he vented about being embarrassed and upset.

For those not in the know, WWE released several NXT stars including Bodhi Hayward from their contracts during the day. According to Bryan Alvarez, the company released the performers because they weren’t getting any better inside the ring.
