WWE has certainly undergone a lot of changes over the past several years, this includes them introducing a variety of new Premium Live Events. The Day 1 event was one of them as well, but it’s all in the past now.

As previously reported, the company has cancelled the upcoming Day 1 Premium Live Event. So far, only one event of that name took place at the very beginning of this year.

According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the company did not even put up tickets for sale for the Day 1 event. The same venue where the event was going to take place will now feature a house show instead. That didn’t stop them from selling travel packages.

The final Day 1 story is this. WWE did cancel the Day 1 show at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta and will now run that building instead for a house show on 12/27. Tickets had never gone on sale to the public for 1/1 however there were travel packages that people had purchased for Day 1 ahead of the on-sale. The ticket link for Day 1 now takes you to the house show.

The decision to not run on 1/1 had to have been made prior to 9/23, but they didn’t let anyone know because they canceled the on-sale. The original idea was to move the PPV to 12/27 in Atlanta, and then they canceled the 12/27 house show in Detroit. Then the decision was made to axe the PPV and go from 11/26 (Survivor Series) to 1/28 (Royal Rumble) without a PPV

The 2022 Day 1 show took place from the State Farm Arena in Atlanta and saw Brock Lesnar become the new WWE champion after defeating Big E, Bobby Lashley. Sadly, fans will not see that event happen again next year. Let’s hope those fans who bought travel packages are cool with attending a house show instead.
