AEW officially debuted the TNT Championship during their Road to Dynamite YouTube show on March 20, 2020. Cody Rhodes became the inaugural champion when he beat Lance Archer for the title at Double or Nothing 2020. The current AEW TNT Champion is Wardlow, and he defended his the title during Dynamite tonight. That drew a clever remark from Eric Bischoff.

Wardlow put his title on the line against Tony Nese as part of Mr. Mayhem’s ‘open challenge.’ Wardlow responded to Nese’s flexes with a headbutt and a lariat. Mr. Mayhem then hit his Powerbomb Symphony for the win. Former WCW President Eric Bischoff was not a fan of AEW booking the TNT title defense on TBS and had this to say about the move.

TNT Championship title defense on TBS? Makes sense.

Bischoff buried CM Punk over AEW backstage drama as well. Punks whiney ass meltdown and subsequent burial of the company, as well as emasculating TK in public-at a “press conference” no less-is a far bigger issue than the high school lunchroom fight back stage bs,” he said.
