Jon Moxley debuted at AEW Double Or Nothing 2019 and took no time in becoming one of the company’s mainstays. He has competed against the best of the best the company has to offer as well. That being said, his recent activity in AEW was met with controversy.

As seen on last week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, The Purveyor Of Violence faced CM Punk in an AEW World Title unification match. Moxley squashed Punk in under three minutes to become the undisputed AEW World Champion.

While speaking on the Busted Open podcast, Bully Ray believed that Punk’s foot injury in the match was real, but noted that things went somewhat “wonky” when Punk didn’t sell the injury enough.

“Here’s the two things that interested me. Why the no selling of the ankle? And why do a finish that didn’t revolve around the angle? Now, I’m not saying what they did was technically wrong, but why didn’t Moxley use his normal DDT finish? If you’re going to beat somebody with a finish, why not beat them with your finish?,”

It remains to be seen how Jon Moxley is booked as the AEW World Champion. With AEW All Out right around the corner, the company might already have an opponent in mind.
