Austin Theory remains one of the young and rising talent in all of WWE. He made the most of the platform given to him by Johnny Gargano’s stable, The Way as well. Theory has now addressed comparisons to John Cena, and he wants to do his own thing.

Theory has been on a roll since being called up to the main roster again last year. He had a solid WrestleMania 38 moment with Steve Austin and then won the United States Championship. He eventually lost the title as well, but that didn’t stop his momentum.

Theory shocked the world after winning the Money In The Bank match. For a very long time now Theory has been taking shots at John Cena and even been compared to him.

While speaking with Steve Fall of NBC Sports Boston on the Ten Count show, Theory stated that he appreciates being compared to John Cena, but wants to be his own thing in the end.

“I will always appreciate that. Just being a kid at 8 years old and seeing John Cena for the first time. It really inspired me to do what I’m doing now and it’s made a career and pretty much set up my whole life, so there’s always going to be that appreciation of comparison.

But for me, I want to be on my own and do my own thing. I think often times, when somebody is on the come up, people are always going to jump to, ‘He does this like this one, or he looks like this one,’ and thats great. People are always gonna do that. But I think time definitely tells and with time I think everybody is going to know that Theory is a standalone name.”

WWE might be delaying John Cena vs Austin Theory until WrestleMania next year. Theory will also feud with Johnny Gargano on Monday Night RAW for the time being. We’ll have to see how the feud turns out to be.
