On last week’s episode of AEW: Dynamite, it was announced that CM Punk vs Jon Moxley would be moved from the All Out pay-per-view to this week’s Dynamite. They will unify the World Title of CM Punk and the Interim Title that Moxley held throughout the summer.

Tony Khan recently appeared on Busted Open Radio to explain the decision to move the bout to free television. It seems that he thought things through in his own way.

“I feel like it would be a great match at any time. But tonight it felt like the right night for this big fight, and after last week, we really couldn’t keep these guys apart.”

Moxley and Punk had a war of words before a fight broke out and later Jon Moxley came back out to the ring and called Punk out for a second brawl. “So we saw last week we couldn’t even get the show running, Mark Sterling and Tony Nese were coming out for an interview and they couldn’t even get that going,” Khan said about the events of last week leading to the second fight between the champions. Both segments would take over 20 combined minutes of the show.

Khan continued to talk about the decision of moving the match to television. He said, “I think tonight on TBS presents a great opportunity for a big fight.” He then would say, “Of course, as we approach All Out, the card is going to be massive, and we’re going to have a much better idea of what that’s going to look like.”

It looks as if the match was moved for a ratings boost in the wake of Monday Night Raw’s ratings getting higher in recent weeks. Jon Moxley vs CM Punk for the World Championship is definitely one way to hike ratings. Whether it’s on free television or pay-per-view, this match is bound to have a ton of eyes glued to their screens.
