Kris Statlander was on a complete tear lately, winning seven straight matches following her defeat by Ruby Soho on the May 27th episode of “AEW Rampage.” The AEW TBS Champion Jade Cargill and emerging talent Statlander appeared to be on collision path, despite her prior failures to win championship gold in the promotion. AEW recently announced that Statlander is out of action with injury.

Statlander and the recently introduced Athena have been involved in a conflict with Cargill’s Baddies stable. Statlander’s transformation from her “Galaxy’s Greatest Alien” image to the “More than Woman” persona, a transition she thought was required, could be partly blamed for her success in the AEW women’s division. The recent run of triumphs propelled Statlander to the second spot in the AEW’s women’s division power rankings as of last week, whether or not that was the consequence of her new gimmick.

Fans are now speculating that Statlander may be injured after she was abruptly dropped from the latest rankings, which were published on August 10th. It was revealed by AEW during last night’s “AEW Dynamite: Quake at the Lake” special that Statlander is actually sidelined due to an injury. During a backstage section, Tony Schiavone informed Toni Storm that she had been promoted to the top contender as a result of Statlander’s injury.

Fans on social media believe Statlander tweaked her knee in her triumph over Sierra on last week’s “AEW Dark,” despite Schiavone’s lack of any additional information. Statlander can be seen landing awkwardly after connecting with a running kick in a video clip from the match that was posted on Twitter by AEW. The kick gave Statlander the victory, but also seemed to take some time. AEW did not directly reveal what Statlander’s injury is.

Fans of Statlander can only hope that the injury is not too severe because she had only recently made full recovery from an ACL tear that had kept her out of action for over a year in 2020. Stay tuned to Ringside News for latest news and updates.
