The merger between WarnerMedia and Discovery has been seen as a huge thing for a variety of reasons. So far, WarnerMedia has been quite satisfied with AEW’s performance on TNT and TBS. That being said, after some massive WarnerMedia budget cuts, AEW might also be in trouble come next year.

AEW signed a deal with WarnerMedia, which will finish at the end of next year. For the most part, WarnerMedia has been happy with AEW, despite inconsistent ratings on a weekly basis.

For the past few days, WarnerMedia has been cancelling movies and television shows left and right, including ‘Batgirl.’ While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted how the recent slashes could spell bad news for AEW.

Your parent company is slicing budgets everywhere, they are stopping movies and TV shows in production, it’s been a bloodletting there and there’s probably more to come. The timing for AEW, with their deal coming up at the end of next year, last few days haven’t been looking good.

The relationship between AEW and WarnerMedia hasn’t been a difficult one that we can tell. This is why even Matt Hardy isn’t concerned about the merger. That being said, AEW needs to prove their value. We have to wonder whether that will change in the future.
