Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio returned to Raw in mid-May after being decimated by Veer Mahaan. It has long been believed that the two would eventually have an on-screen split. In the past, Rey Mysterio has said he is against the idea.

WWE could be planning to surprise fans by having Dominik Mysterio turn on his father in a major swerve. The upcoming July 25 episode of Raw takes place at Madison Square Garden. The company will celebrate Rey Mysterio’s 20th anniversary on that evening. With Dominik being recruited to join The Judgment Day, things could be falling into place for the long-anticipated split.

In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer discussed the fact that WWE may pull the trigger on a Dominik Mysterio turn at the show. Given Vince McMahon’s love for doing shows in the world’s most famous arena, it is expected that could be the night it all goes down.

“For the 7/25 Raw in MSG, Riddle & Street Profits vs. Reigns & Usos is the announced main event. That doesn’t mean it will happen, but in MSG, it’s probably more likely than another arena. The show is also being pushed at the 20th anniversary of Rey Mysterio in WWE.

It feels like if they are going to do the Dominik turn, and it’s certainly being teased hard, this ceremony would be an idea of where to do it. Plus, Vince McMahon has a special affinity for MSG so one would expect a show with more major stories coming out of it and for it to be pushed much harder than usual to draw a bigger rating.”

The Monday Night Raw from Madison Square Garden could see plenty of consequential angles. One of those will almost certainly feature Rey Mysterio. If WWE plans to turn Dominik, that seems to be the night to do it.
