Vince McMahon is in even deeper hot water than before after new allegations of sexual misconduct emerged today. A report stated that McMahon paid out around $12 million in hush money to people he had inappropriate or unwanted sexual contact with. McMahon was already being investigated for $3 million payment to a former WWE paralegal to keep a relationship quiet.

After the initial story broke, Vince McMahon stepped down as CEO of WWE. He was replaced by his daughter, Stephanie McMahon. It was noted that McMahon agreed to cooperate with the investigation, regardless of what was uncovered.

Now, WWE employees are coming out of the woodwork to share what they knew and when. In a story by Sean Ross Sapp behind Fightful’s paywall, at least one former talent said they knew about the latest news well in advance. Rumors of Vince McMahon’s sexual escapades became somewhat of a joke backstage among the writers.

“When the initial Wall Street Journal story emerged, a former talent contacted Fightful and they said of “at least one major story” would come out in the coming weeks, but didn’t feel comfortable identifying the story specifically. They confirmed to Fightful this morning it was tied to the former talent who gained a $7.5M agreement. McMahon’s behavior was heavily rumored among the writing team based on those that we spoke to, though we didn’t hear if elements of coercion and NDAs were well known. One former writer we spoke to said that McMahon’s relationship’s would be a half-joking excuse as to why he’d be late to meetings before TV.”

Vince McMahon has been accused of coercing a former wrestler into performing oral sex on him. That wrestler was then demoted and the company did not re-sign her once her contract expired. McMahon paid $7.5 million in exchange for a non-disclosure agreement about the encounter.

WWE will have to continue to investigate the matter. For the moment, Vince McMahon is still the head of creative at WWE. Many within the company are likely not feeling as comfortable with that as they were before today’s headlines hit.
