Sonny Kiss signed with AEW in February 2019. During the inaugural AEW Double or Nothing pay-per-view, Kiss competed in the 21-man battle royal and has since competed in many AEW PPVs. Despite being on AEW Dark and AEW: Dark Elevation, Kiss has not made any appearances on AEW TV since last October. While there hasn’t been any concrete reasoning for why Kiss was left off television, according to Kiss, many would love to see her back.
Speaking on Face Turn, Kiss spoke about her recent absence from television and reveals that a petition was created to get her back on screen. Kiss, whose part of the LGBTQ+ community, has expressed a need and excitement to be on AEW Dynamite and AEW Rampage. But while there is that excitement, Kiss seems to understand that having patience can go a long way in the wrestling industry. Check out what Kiss had to say below:
I think there was honestly like, essentially like a petition kind of going on. I would love to be used more in general. I feel like eventually, it’ll happen. I have been trying my best to be patient, wait my turn.
Kiss has impacted many who feel that they don’t see themselves often depicted on television. Kiss, who’s gender fluid, goes by the pronouns “she/her/he/they,” as stated in her Instagram bio. While discussing her fan’s reactions to the situation, Kiss expressed her gratitude for all the support.
People come up to me and they cry and they tell you like, how much you mean to them, I will never get used to that. I can’t express in words how thankful I am to have the position I have despite the lack of representation.
Kiss last competed on AEW Dynamite on October 21, 2020. She lost a first-round matchup of the AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament to Kenny Omega.
